Defeated in his bid for re-election to the state legislature, Blake Washburn (Jeffrey Lynn) takes over the Herald newspaper. Blaming big business interests for his defeat, he uses the paper to attack McFarland (Donald Crisp), a large manufacturer. Blake's obsessive desire to destroy big business leads to major conflicts with all his friends and threatens to ruin his relationship with his fiance� (Marjorie Reynolds). A near-tragic accident involving his kid sister at a school picnic changes Blake's attitude as well as his editorial policy.
